MHP Wins 2026 Sustainable Growth Award
April 24, 2026 (Silver Spring, MD) MHP project The Residences at Forest Glen has won a Maryland Sustainable Growth Award. The project was selected by the Sustainable Growth Subcabinet and the Maryland Department of Planning. The award was presented by Governor Wes Moore, Secretary Jake Day, and Subcabinet Chair Rebecca L. Flora.
The Residences at Forest Glen sets a new benchmark for affordable housing by transforming a formerly decaying site into 189 high-quality homes along the Georgia Avenue corridor. By strategically leveraging rezoning and bold architectural design, MHP has effectively tripled the site’s housing capacity while fostering a connection to nature through thoughtful courtyards and bioretentive storm water management.
MHP’s commitment to preventing displacement while maximizing density near public transit is an exemplary model for equitable urban growth. By integrating educational programs, green infrastructure, and diverse community amenities, we have ensured that this development not only houses families but connects them to jobs, stability, and opportunity.
MHP thanks its State of Maryland partners for this wonderful recognition and congratulates other winners including Montgomery County Department of Planning and Maryland Department of Transportation.
