Letter from Rob
Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of The Chimes at North Bethesda. The completion of this property marks a major milestone for MHP: the achievement of our Capital Campaign goal! Back in November 2021, as we launched the Making Home Possible For All campaign, we set a goal to double our impact and the number of homes we produced by the end of the decade. It was a bold dream and people said it could not be done – but with your help, I am happy to share that we have now reached our goal, more than three years ahead of schedule! The Chimes brings our affordable housing portfolio to more than 3,400 apartment homes. For all your support on this journey, I am forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Goldman

The Chimes at North Bethesda Ribbon Cutting
We’ve officially cut the ribbon for The Chimes at North Bethesda. Thank you to everyone who came out to help us celebrate! This $86 million affordable multifamily development is a ground-up, mixed-income property with 163 apartment homes. Steps away from Metro, The Chimes brings a mix of affordability levels to a vibrant area of Montgomery County, providing housing for families earning 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 percent of Area Median Income (AMI). Through this project, MHP transformed what was once an underutilized parcel of land in a transit-friendly location into a modern, efficient, accessible, and stylish property that will serve many low- and moderate-income families for years to come.

Empowering Families
Tech Resources
Technology is an important element of learning in our contemporary times. We are fortunate that our donors and funding partners make resources like iPads, laptops, and Promethean boards available for our students. From online academic support programs to yoga, our staff and students make the most of technology.
Topgolf Outing
Learning a new sport is never easy but it’s great to get out of your comfort zone and try something different! When you are surrounded by caring friends and adults, you know it’s ok to make mistakes and build new skills. Community Life GATOR students recently had the opportunity to visit Top Golf where they discovered the sport of golf in a fun and relaxed environment.
Strengthening Neighborhoods
The Storehouse Brings Fresh Food to Unity Place
Thanks to our new food distribution partner The StoreHouse, Unity Place residents are now receiving fresh groceries to support their nutritional needs. Our first distribution event was a success, with 101 households registered. The community’s biggest request was fresh food, and The StoreHouse delivered by providing watermelons, potatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, fresh corn, hummus, collard greens, apples, cabbages, and nectarines. It can be difficult to find perfectly ripe and sweet watermelons, and they even succeeded at that! Staff from our Community Life team were onsite to connect with families and discuss MHP programs. It was a beautiful day to support low- and moderate-income residents in DC.
Wellness Partnerships Serve Residents
As part of our Community Health Worker and resident outreach efforts, MHP hosts local clinics to promote wellness. Sometimes we combine them with food distributions, which help combat food insecurity. We are grateful to our partners like Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services for offering medical and dental services and other resources to support our residents. Many community members lack insurance or struggle to pay the out-of-pocket costs associated with medical care. These programs fulfill a critical community need and serve low- and moderate-income neighbors.

Paving the Way to Opportunity
Amherst is one of the most ambitious affordable housing developments in MHP’s history. The new community will bring 272 affordable apartment homes, 39 affordable for-sale townhomes, a community center, and an arts and cultural center to the heart of Wheaton. To keep this transformative project and other critical housing initiatives moving forward, MHP must raise $150,000 in unrestricted support by this fall. Your generosity will help provide stable, affordable homes, empower families through resident services and educational programs, and strengthen neighborhoods across our region. Consider making a gift and seeing your message on a paver at Amherst! https://mhpartners.org/pavetheway/
