Silver Spring, MD (December 05, 2024) – MHP announced its annual holiday toy drives will deliver gifts to more than 1K children and teens across its properties in the DC region. This is the 26th year that the Silver Spring-based nonprofit developer has been delivering holiday gifts to low- and moderate-income residents.  

Through the Angels for Children Toy Drive in Wheaton, MHP brings gifts to children living in the Amherst Square, Amherst Gardens, and Pembridge Square apartments, all located in Wheaton, MD. Volunteers dressed as Santa help distribute toys door-to-door on December 24th, delighting young residents and their families. Through a partnership with the Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce and Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad, MHP fulfills holiday wishes for many families. 

MHP also brings gifts to preschoolers through sixth graders in its Community Life after school enrichment programs at 15 locations throughout Montgomery County. We match corporate sponsors with classroom wishlists, ensuring that each child has something special to unwrap. 

All MHP toy drive efforts rely on donations of new gifts, volunteer time, and financial contributions from individual and corporate donors. This remarkable project is possible because of the kindness, love, generosity, and dedication of many supporters and community members. 

“Our holiday toy drives provide an extra boost for families, allowing them to focus their resources on critical needs like rent, food, clothing, medical care, and more,” said MHP President Robert A. Goldman.  “For 26 years we have been providing toys for children across multiple MHP properties in Montgomery County. This year, we are bringing toys to more than 1,000 children and teens. MHP’s work will continue – we are dedicated more than ever to helping make a difference in the lives of the families we serve,” Goldman said.
