MHP Toy Drives Bring Holiday Magic to More Than 1K Affordable Housing Residents

Silver Spring, MD (December 7, 2023) – MHP has been delivering holiday gifts to our low- and moderate-income residents for more than 25 years. This year, we are expanding our efforts, delivering gifts to more than 1K children and teens.

Through the Angels for Children Toy Drive in Wheaton, the nonprofit affordable housing developer brings gifts to children living in the Amherst Square, Amherst Gardens, and Pembridge Square apartments, all located in Wheaton, MD. Volunteers dressed as Santa help distribute toys door-to-door on December 24th, delighting young residents and their families. Through a partnership with the Wheaton & Kensington Chamber of Commerce and Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad, MHP has been fulfilling holiday wishes for 25 years.

MHP also brings gifts to kindergarten through sixth graders in Community Life programs at classroom holiday parties. This year, MHP will include recently acquired Rollingwood Apartments in the Lyttonsville neighborhood of Silver Spring, adding a new avenue for giving and building community connections in partnership with MRK Partners.

All MHP toy drive efforts rely on donations of new gifts, volunteer time, and financial contributions from individual and corporate donors. Each year, the number of gifts varies depending on donations, but MHP anticipates giving more than 1K new, wrapped, age-appropriate holiday gifts to local children. This remarkable project is possible because of the kindness, love, generosity, and dedication of many supporters and community members.

The Angels for Children Toy Drive is accepting donations of unwrapped gifts until December 20th. Learn more about what to donate, where to bring your gift and how to get involved here: https://mhpartners.org/holiday-toy-drive/
