MHP Announces Leadership Change, Appoints Stephanie Roodman as New VP of Real Estate
Silver Spring, MD, October 17, 2024 – MHP announced today the appointment of Stephanie Roodman as the nonprofit affordable housing developer’s new vice president of real estate. Before this promotion, Stephanie served as director of real estate and legal counsel, managing a large MHP housing development portfolio.
Stephanie brings rich and extensive development experience to this new role. During her stint as director of real estate, she served as the lead developer responsible for design, structuring, financing, closing, and construction. With over 25 years of applied expertise and mastery of the affordable housing development process, Stephanie completed more than 10 large, award-winning projects exceeding $725 million in total development costs and totaling over 600 units. As MHP’s in-house legal counsel, she provides trusted oversight of grant agreements, operational contracts, legal engagement letters, utility contracts, and consulting agreements for all staff.
Stephanie joined MHP in November 2006 as a project manager and was promoted to senior project manager in 2009. In these roles, Stephanie managed MHP’s highly successful new construction project, The Bonifant at Silver Spring (149 units of mixed income senior housing), and oversaw the rehab of many MHP multi-family properties, including Halpine Hamlet, Gilbert Highlands, Crossroads at Flower, Sligo View, and Merrimac Gardens.
Prior to joining MHP, Stephanie worked for three years at a law firm specializing in HOPE VI redevelopment and affordable housing loan funds and spent eight years as in-house counsel to the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Illinois’ state housing finance authority. Stephanie previously worked for a boutique housing law firm as a senior associate. She earned a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, and a Master of Arts in Urban Planning and Policy from University of Illinois.
In tandem with Stephanie’s promotion, MHP also promoted two senior project managers, Jon McCall and Jon Poyer, to directors of real estate, demonstrating value for the contributions and career development of current employees. John has more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisition, development, operation, and disposition. Jon McCall joined MHP in May this year from BRIDGE Housing Corporation, where he oversaw the development of 773 units of affordable housing across Northern California as an associate director of development.
MHP President Robert A. Goldman said the appointments demonstrate the nonprofit developer’s commitment to supporting staff development and strengthening its team. He said, “Our employees are at the heart of serving our residents and fulfilling our broader mission. We congratulate Stephanie, John, and Jon on this achievement and look forward to a strategic approach that will help us expand and preserve more affordable housing for low- and middle-income earners in Montgomery County, MD and beyond.”
