Silver Spring, MD (November 9, 2023) – The annual Long Branch 5K Fun Run is back, and all are invited to register for this popular community event.

The race will be held on November 19th, 2023 in Long Branch, a vibrant neighborhood in Silver Spring that borders Takoma Park, MD.

The family-oriented Long Branch 5k Fun Run gives participants a chance to get exercise, have fun, and experience the offerings of local businesses.

This year, the neighborhood’s newest café, Koma, will be serving hot coffee at the starting line. Local restaurant El Golfo will offer a celebratory post-race brunch featuring delectable Latin dishes including huevos rancheros, mimosas, micheladas, & more.

Proceeds from the event fund the efforts of Discover Long Branch and the Long Branch Business League, in partnership with MHP. Our events draw attention to the Long Branch community, highlighting the neighborhood’s vibrant culture and enhancing its status as a destination.

In addition to monthly events, recent Long Branch efforts have included installation of a large outdoor mural, restoration of the historic Flower Theater façade, festivals, outdoor movie nights, holiday events, and more. Through these efforts, MHP aims to promote an inclusive future that enables current residents and businesses to be resilient in the face of change, especially as Purple Line construction impacts the neighborhood. Our programs bring communities together, celebrate diversity, expand understanding of the crucial role of shared public spaces, and highlight the value of locally owned businesses.
