EXPAND COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER PROGRAM

Home is Where Health Begins…

Studies show that having safe housing is a fundamental determinant of health. Low-income families who don’t have an affordable place to call home must make impossible choices between paying rent and paying for food, clothing, and medical care.

Thanks to donors like you, MHP is training residents within our communities to serve as community health workers. In addition to earning income, the community health workers help connect their neighbors to health services. They may make referrals to healthcare providers, discuss health benefits, secure food resources, offer preventive healthcare education, support maternal and infant health care, and more.

DOUBLING DOWN ON OUR EFFORTS

The lack of affordable housing hurts us all…

Thanks to your steadfast support, MHP now provides 3,250 apartments in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and the District. Just think of all those families who can look forward to the holiday season in a cozy and safe home.

As we celebrate our progress this year, we are also doubling down on our efforts for 2026 and beyond. The National Low Income Housing Coalition reports that the Washington, DC area faces a shortfall of nearly 150,000 housing units for low-income families. Your generous end-of-year gift today will help MHP continue to house more people and offer the community services they need to succeed.
